Amy’s Notable Accomplishments

2010 Victories

Beginning in 2009 and continuing through 2010, the Tea Party Express was very influential in the political landscape. We did four national tours between August 2009 - November 2010

The first two tours in 2009 created an enormous amount of energy and momentum nationwide. The first tour crisscrossed the nation for three weeks and concluded with the March on Washington with one of the largest conservative crowds in recent history.

The second tour continued that momentum and energy, which then prompted involvement in the Massachusetts Special Election for Senate in support of Scott Brown in January of 2010. We endorsed Brown and began campaigning for him through independent expenditures. A couple of weeks before Election Day, we bought all remaining airtime4 on local TV in the state, and with the money remaining, we ran ads on Fox News National. Scott Brown was victorious in his election bid.

Throughout the remainder of 2010, we were involved in primary races and did two bus tours, in addition to a summer-long tour in Alaska. The energy and momentum created throughout the primary season galvanized the base in a way that then transpired to a landslide victory in Republicans reclaiming the House majority (63 seats) and electing conservatives (Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, Ron Johnson, and Kelly Ayotte) to the US Senate.

The victories of 2010 led to the creation of the Tea Party Caucus in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Wisconsin

Tea Party Express played an instrumental role in defeating the recall of Governor Scott Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefish, and members of the Wisconsin State Senate. This effort was accomplished by engaging the base with a state-wide bus tour, rallies, ads, door knocking, GOTV, and numerous local and national media appearances.

Congressman Bart Stupak

Democrat incumbent Congressman Bart Stupak (MI-01) was holding out on supporting Obamacare. His district was strongly pro-life and Stupak held out his support because the legislation included federal funding for abortion. Stupak flipped his vote to yes on Obamacare, so Tea Party Express announced a tour through his district and an IE campaign to remove him. He announced his retirement less than two days later.

Senator Ted Cruz

Tea Party Express jumped on board with Texas Solicitor General, Ted Cruz, in his bid for US Senate. TPX endorsed Cruz in the primary over Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, Craig James, and others when he was polling at a mere 1-3%. Cruz went to a runoff against Dewhurst, which he won with grassroots support. He went on to win the general election in the fall of 2012. TPX played a crucial role in Senator Cruz’s victory through several bus tours engaging a large grassroots network that had been built beginning in 2009. There were numerous events including rallies, meet & greets, dinners, sign wavings, and more. Tea Party Express utilized the first-ever mobile phone bus for GOTV events across Texas. Additionally, ads, robocalls, and a lot of networking under TPX’s leadership were critical in Cruz’s victory.

Senator Rick Scott

Amy worked with Rick Scott on healthcare reform in 2009. In 2010, Tea Party Express endorsed and supported Scott for Governor of Florida. The Tea Party Express bus was in Florida hosting events for Scott to help rally the base. He was elected Governor of Florida, where he served two terms. In 2018, Governor Scott was elected to the US Senate defeating the incumbent Democrat.

Senator Tom Cotton

In 2012, Tea Party Express endorsed and supported Tom Cotton for Congress in a contentious primary in AR-04. The Tea Party Express bus made a detour on the national tour to get involved in the primary and host events for Cotton. He won the Primary and went on to win the general in the fall of 2012. After serving in Congress for one term, Cotton was elected to the US Senate in 2014.

Governor Ron DeSantis

In 2012 Tea Party Express endorsed and supported Ron DeSantis for Congress (FL-06) in the primary. The Tea Party Express bus was used to host events and rally the people in the district to support DeSantis. After serving three terms in the US House of Representatives, DeSantis was elected Governor of Florida.

Congressman Greg Murphy

In the Spring of 2019, Amy endorsed and supported Dr. Greg Murphy for the Special Election in NC-03. Dr. Murphy was running against a female physician and Amy’s endorsement was able to neutralize the gender card. This enabled the election to focus strictly on the issues and not identity politics. Dr. Murphy won the primary and went on to win the general election. He is now the Congressman that represents NC-03 and is also a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

House Freedom Caucus Members

Under Amy’s leadership as Chairman, Tea Party Express helped elect the following Representatives to the US House, where they joined the House Freedom Caucus and have advocated for conservative principles and values: Mark Meadows, Mick Mulvaney, Trey Gowdy, Raul Labrador, Ron DeSantis, Ted Yoho, and more.

Tea Party Express & CNN Presidential Debate

After the historic 2010 election, Amy went to CNN with the idea to do a “Tea Party” Presidential Debate. Under Amy’s leadership, Tea Party Express equally partnered (not sponsored) with CNN to hold the first-ever nationally televised Tea Party Presidential Debate. The biggest challenge that CNN tasked Amy with was to get all twelve candidates to attend the debate. She was successful in her endeavors and it was one of the highest-rated debates on cable news that cycle. Tea Party Express kicked off a bus tour in Napa, CA which culminated in the first-ever debate of the grassroots in the important state of Florida (Tampa). Besides elections, this was historic in that it showed the strength and power of the Tea Party Express and Tea Party movement.

Tea Party Response to the State of the Union

In 2011, after the historic victory where Republicans regained control of the House, the Tea Party Express held the first-ever Tea Party Response to the State of the Union. Under Amy’s leadership as Chairman, she secured Congresswoman Bachmann to deliver the inaugural response and it was carried live on Cable News Networks after the official Republican response. Between the years of 2012-2015, the response was delivered by Herman Cain, Senator Rand Paul, Senator Mike Lee, and Congressman Curt Clawson.

Great America PAC

In January 2016, Amy co-founded Great America PAC, the first and largest grassroots organization in support of then-candidate, Donald J. Trump.

Women for Trump

In the spring of 2016, Amy launched Women for Trump with a team of strong women at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The announcement and launch received enormous amounts of press, both nationally and internationally.

Women for Trump – Heels On, Gloves Off Summit

In the Fall of 2018, during the heated confirmation battle of now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, we hosted a three-day exclusive “Heels On, Gloves Off” summit which featured leaders and activists at Trump International Hotel.  The theme of this summit and our theme now: our heels are on but our gloves are off and we are coming together to empower and energize women who support President Trump and the America First agenda.

We had leaders from the Trump Administration, the Trump Family and the campaign joined us, including Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Lara Trump, Katrina Pierson, Ronna McDaniel from the RNC, as well as known media figures including Judge Jeanine Pirro, Sebastian Gorka, Gregg Jarrett, Sara Carter, and others.

Women for America First – March for Trump Impeachment Rallies

In October of 2019, as Democrats started calling for and threatening to impeach President Trump, we hosted a March for Trump Impeachment Rally at the US Capitol. This was the only grassroots event held at the US Capitol in support of President Trump during the impeachment battle. Supporters came from across the country to stand in solidarity and show their support for the President.

Confirmed speakers included Minority Whip Steve Scalise (LA), Congressman Doug Collins (GA), Congressman John Rutherford (FL), Seb Gorka, Jack Posobiec, Kelly Sadler, Jonathan Gilliam, and more.

We hosted another March for Trump Impeachment Rally at the US Capitol on Friday, December 13th just days before the House formally voted to impeach on December 18, 2019. Again, this was the only grassroots event in support of President Trump in the Capitol city during this time.

Angel Families

In January 2019 during the government shutdown, under Amy’s leadership of Women for America For America First, we brought ‘Angel Families’ to Washington to tell and share the real stories of people who have been impacted by the illegal immigration crisis we face. We held a press conference with the families on Capitol Hill and lobbied Members of Congress. The Angel Families also met with the Vice President of the United States and were able to share the stories of their loved ones and the enormous loss they have experienced.

The following month in February 2019, we took 30+ Angel Families to DC to again share the personal stories that have impacted so many lives by the loss of a loved one at the hands of an illegal immigrant. Again, we held a press conference where Republican House leadership joined us, as well as Mark Morgan and Tom Homan. Through Amy’s persistence and leadership, the families met with President Trump and were in the Rose Garden when President Trump announced the emergency declaration for the funding of the border wall.
